Random Thoughts

Chris Waller has half a dozen runners most southern Saturdays with rarely a winner. Notwithstanding his under performance, his Melbourne setup reeks of going through the motions. Multi-state operations remain problematic. The vast area of the Flemington precinct appears to exacerbate wind issues. I wonder if such racecourse plains generate more random results. A well exposed 4yo mare from the Freedman yard saluted after halving her price in the last 10 minutes of betting ($10 to $5). How can such happenings be in the era of Wednesday prepost openings. Flemington today resembled a Sydney card with its moderate offerings rendering a suitably subdued oncourse atmosphere.
